Enable Google Toolbar in Firefox 5

Enable Google Toolbar in Firefox 5

If you've installed Firefox 5 and noticed that Google Toolbar wasn't updated to support the new Firefox release, there's a simple way to enable the extension:
install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter. "After installing the Add-on Compatibility Reporter, your incompatible extensions will become enabled for you to test whether they still work with the version of Firefox or Thunderbird that you're using." This should only be a temporary solution until Google Toolbar and other extensions update their compatibility list.

Enable google toolbar for Firefox 5
Firefox 5 Google toolbar extension
Google Toolbar 7 works well in Firefox 5, especially considering that the new Firefox version didn't make too many important extension-related changes.

Firefox's faster release cycle, inspired by Google Chrome, has an important downside: extension developers need to update their extensions more frequently and update the list of Firefox versions that are supported. Mozilla alleviated this problem by automatically marking almost 4,000 extensions as compatible with Firefox 5, but Google Toolbar is not hosted by Mozilla and it's downloaded from Google's servers.

Firefox Optimized with SSE2SSE

SSE is CPU extension, improve loading.
  1. All builds are for Windows 2000 and above only. (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 are all above Windows 2000)
  2. SSE builds are optimized for Pentium III/equivalent.
  3. SSE2 builds are optimized for Pentium IV/equivalent.
  4. The above list is sorted by versions in descending order i.e. the recent versions are at the top of the list.
  5. All builds have the full functionality as the official builds from Mozilla i.e. no loss of functionality as a result of any tweaks.

With SSE2 patched Firefox is much faster !

Although  Google Chrome is the fastest, it has problem when browsing problem with some old website and it does not have much pug-in to speed up your usage of Internet. So Firefox with SSE2 patched is much first choice.

Hacking/hijacking anyone's F@ceb00k/Twitter/youtube/etc sessions on your network?

email post
Reactions:

Firesheep Download

DOWNLOAD:

Windows Users: Install Winpcap first!

When logging into a website you usually start by submitting your username and password. The server then checks to see if an account matching this information exists and if so, replies back to you with a 'cookie' which is used by your browser for all subsequent requests. It's extremely common for websites to protect your password by encrypting the initial login, but surprisingly uncommon for websites to encrypt everything else. This leaves the cookie (and the user) vulnerable. HTTP session hijacking (sometimes called 'sidejacking') is when an attacker gets a hold of a user's cookie, allowing them to do anything the user can do on a particular website. On an open wireless network, cookies are basically shouted through the air, making these attacks extremely easy. This is a widely known problem that has been talked about to death, yet very popular websites continue to fail at protecting their users. The only effective fix for this problem is full end-to-end encryption, known on the web as HTTPS or SSL. Facebook is constantly rolling out new 'privacy' features in an endless attempt to quell the screams of unhappy users, but what's the point when someone can just take over an account entirely? Twitter forced all third party developers to use OAuth then immediately released (and promoted) a new version of their insecure website. When it comes to user privacy, SSL is the elephant in the room. Today at Toorcon 12 I announced the release of Firesheep, a Firefox extension designed to demonstrate just how serious this problem is. After installing the extension you'll see a new sidebar. Connect to any busy open wifi network and click the big 'Start Capturing' button. Then wait.
Click to view large Download this gallery (ZIP, undefined KB) Download full size (47 KB) As soon as anyone on the network visits an insecure website known to Firesheep, their name and photo will be displayed: Click to view large Download this gallery (ZIP, undefined KB) Download full size (65 KB) Double-click on someone, and you're instantly logged in as them. Click to view large Download this gallery (ZIP, undefined KB) Download full size (110 KB) That's it. Firesheep is free, open source, and is available now for Mac OS X and Windows. Linux support is on the way. Websites have a responsibility to protect the people who depend on their services. They've been ignoring this responsibility for too long, and it's time for everyone to demand a more secure web. My hope is that Firesheep will help the users win.

Firefox Sync 1.4 Released

Related Topics:

Mozilla is proud to announce the latest release of Firefox Sync is now available for download.  This release includes the following main features:
  • It enables you to give friendly names to identify your computers (John’s Work Laptop, Mary’s Home Desktop etc) which is especially useful when you use Firefox Home, our upcoming iPhone app.
  • It includes some major UI changes in preparation for bringing Firefox Sync to Firefox 4.
  • In addition, we also have numerous performance and stability improvements.

UI Changes in Firefox Sync 1.4

In order to improve the user experience when using Tab Sync, we have added the ability to set a friendly name for your computer, so you can easily tell which tabs are from which devices.  This is designed to improve the user experience for tab sync across all devices, especially for Firefox on mobile devices and the upcoming Firefox Home release.
Firefox 4 is heading in the direction of a simpler and cleaner UI. In preparation for bringing Sync to Firefox 4, we’ve reduced the presence of Firefox Sync in the primary UI for Firefox. To meet the needs of a simpler UI, you can now only access Firefox Sync through the Tools menu versus the previous UI where Sync was available in both the status bar and in the Tools menu.  As we continue to evolve Firefox Sync and scale our server backend, we will sync more frequently for a more seamless user experience, which means this UI would have been a frequent distraction for users.  We’re very interested in constructive feedback about how we can continue to evolve the user experience on our mailing list.

FacePAD v0.7.5  has been released! Grab it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en/firefox/addon/8442/

This release fixes the current ‘infinite thumbnail downloading’ issue that’s plaguing FacePAD users. This began occurring because Facebook began rolling out a new album-layout/database/schema to users this week. I have fixed this issue and left the original in code in tact for those users who haven’t been migrated to the new album system.

Autopager vs Fastestfox

email post
Reactions:
I found that, there is some amount of people looking for opinion of compare Autopager and Fastestfox recently.

It is a actual very simple Question. If you are a Advanced computer user or a developer, you should use Autopager or autopager lite for lighter resource usage. Of course, Autopager takes some time to learn and it is not easy. However, it is really powerful weapon tool for developer.

On the other hand, if you are home user, I probably suggest you to use Fastest fox which is a very simple plugin for Firefox and SeaMonkey.

[Firefox] BetterPrivacy 1.48

email post
Reactions:
BetterPrivacy 1.48
Using a Firefox version older than 3.5?
Then get the compatible BetterPrivacy version 1.38 from here

Super-Cookie Safeguard (protects from LSO Flash Objects, DOM Storage Objects).
Better Privacy serves to protect against undeletable longterm cookies, a new generation of 'Super-Cookie', which silently conquered the internet. This new cookie generation offers unlimited user tracking to industry and market research. Concerning privacy Flash- and DOM Storage objects are most critical.
Flash-cookies (Local Shared Objects, LSO) are pieces of information placed on your computer by a Flash plugin. Those Super-Cookies are placed in central system folders and so protected from deletion. They are frequently used like standard browser cookies. Although their thread potential is much higher as of conventional cookies, only few users began to take notice of them. It is of frequent occurrence that -after a time- hundreds of those Flash-cookies reside in special folders. And they won't be deleted - never!
BetterPrivacy can stop them, e.g. by allowing to silently remove those objects on every browser exit. So this extension becomes sort of "install and forget add-on". Usually automatic deletion is safe (no negative impact on your browsing), especially if the deletion timer is activated. The timer can delay automatic deletion for new or modified Flash-cookies which might be in use. It also allows to delete those objects immediately if desired.

With BetterPrivacy it is possible to review, protect or delete new Flash-cookies individually. Users who wish to to manage all cookies manually can disable the automatic functions. BetterPrivacy also protects against 'DOM Storage' longterm tracking, a browser feature which has been granted by the major browser manufactures.
